DESCRIPTION

This ride is beautiful and historic. It is definitely not a race.
Join us for a historic metric century (63 miles) ride on Saturday, September 14, 2024 Christiana Historical Society HERITAGE DAYS. christianahistoricalsociety.com/heritage-days-2024
We will wrap up breakfast at Shady Maple and roll out on the route about 8:45 AM.
At approximately mile 17, we will enter the small town of Christiana. We will spend about an hour and ½ touring the exhibits and the Zerchner’s Hotel African American Underground Railroad Museum.
The folks in the town are very welcoming and there are several exhibits and performances in keeping with the theme of freedom and African American History.
After leaving the borough of Christiana we will traverse the Pennsylvania Dutch countryside, several covered bridges and explore some other significant historic sites.
Our last stop is the delectable Lapp Valley Farm at mile 55 that sells locally made ice cream. It is absolutely heavenly.
The route has considerable elevation (3,650 ft) so be prepared to climb.
It is a no drop ride but you should be prepared to maintain an average pace of 15 MPH
